“preparing new generations for a 21st century planet”

The Anam Earth Center for Sustainability and Culture is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth and environment organization to promote the transition toward sustainable communities. Sustainability includes ecological, socio-cultural,  governance and economic aspects, and especially includes work with the next generation to promote transgenerational sustainability.  Anam Duan is from the Irish Anam meaning “Life” or “Spirit” and Duan meaning “Song” or “Poem.” Pronounced AN’ um DOO’ an, it means the lifesong that binds together people,  communities, cultures, the natural environment, and all life.

The Anam Earth Center is located in Albany County, New York, and we operate ecoregionally within the greater Hudson-Mohawk Watershed bioregion.  We work with local communities, especially youth and young adult members, and engage in environmental education, sustainability education and skills training, ecosystem restoration projects, environmental justice and advocacy, environmental leadership development, sustainable land management, sustainability research and thought leadership, cultural experiences, and local economy networks.
